Junior Capitals Walloped by Wild

The Washington Junior Capitals continued to struggle on Day 13, falling 7-0 at the hands of the Minnesota Junior Wild. Washington has just one win so far this season.

Jacobson gave Minnesota a great start when he scored an unassisted goal at 11:34 of the opening period. The Caps didn't help themselves much, playing shorthanded for 14 minutes on four penalties.

The Wild turned it on in the second period with three power play goals. Wheeler got the first from Lutes and Babchuk at 2:09, before Hrdel made it 3-0 from Kostitsyn and Stoner at 3:38. Lindstrom extended the lead to 4-0 with his fifth of the season from Jacobson and Lutes at 6:50.

Minnesota kept firing on all cylinders in the final period. Wheeler scored again on the power play from Vrana and Medvedev at 1:33, and Lindstrom made it 6-0 from Lutes and Ezhov at 12:18. Bernier completed the rout with a power play goal from Jacobson and Hrdel at 14:07. Minnesota was 5-12 on the power play in the game.

Robert Muller made 19 saves in the loss. Brad Topping stopped 10 shots in relief. Andrei Medvedev needed just 16 saves to earn the shutout.

The Junior Capitals are back in action on Day 14 in Carolina.
