Capitals Swing Trade With Predators

The Washington Capitals acquired three draft picks, including the 50th selection, in a trade with the Nashville Predators yesterday. In exchange, Washington sent $5,000,000 to the financially strapped Nashville club.

The picks are SHA 2, PEN 4, and BLU 5 all in the Year 2006 draft. The second rounder is the 50th overall section, the fourth rounder is 96th, and the fifth rounder it 147th. With the picks, Washington now has seven picks and the addition of an activity pick should move the team to eight.

The Capitals need to rebuild the Junior Capitals via the draft as the team has eight spots to fill plus an additional 11 24-year-olds that the team will need to replace in the future.

With $19,000,000 in the bank, Washington GM John Henry could be in the market for more picks in the Year 2006 and/or future drafts.

Stay tuned for more news from the Capitals...
