Boston misery continues

Running their record to an impressive 0-5, the Bruins managed to actually score consecutive goals and briefly considered taking a lead in their game against the Ducks.

However, it was not to be.

For the first forty minutes, Boston matched Anaheim goal for goal, leaving the game tied headed into the third period. The team was inspired by Andy McDonald's early stellarnous, scoring a power-play goal at the 7:18 mark, and adding an assistant on Martin Havlat's third goal of the season eleven minutes later.

Shawn McEachern retied the game at the 16:02 mark of the second period as the teams headed into the locker room knotted at four all.

Almost thirteen minutes into the third period, playing with a one man advantage, the Bruins power play imploded. Karel Rachunek scored a short handed goal - and his second of the season - on an Oleg Kvasha and Wade Belak assist. The Bruins could mount no offense to retaliate, and fell 5-4.

John Grahame spelled Andy Raycroft after the fifth goal, which may be a sign of things to come. Raycroft's name has popped up in multiple trade rumors, and the emptiness of his locker has been noted by teammates.

The team has one day off, then continues its road trip into Edmonton before heading to Montreal. Neither team is off to a roaring start, so the Bruins are hoping to catch lightning in a bottle and capture their first win of the year.

Boston is the final winless team in CLUTCH, and is tied for the worst goals per game output. The lone bright spot is they are fifth from the bottom in goals against per game. The team is left wondering what could have been if Matt Walker - though by no means a savior - would not have been decimated by the Red Wings in the first game of the season.
