Bruins more than triple up Kings

The offensive juggernaut brewing in Boston finally broke free when the Kings visited for the Saturday matinee game.

The third period represented the Bruins coming-of-age party, with four goals coming in a fourteen minute span. The outburst was double the Bruins' average performance for a game.

It looked bleak early on, as the Kings struck first with pavel Rosa netting his third of the year. And McDonald responded, though, thirty-two seconds later to complete the first period scoring.

The goals were closed for more than three-quarters of the second period until Richard Jackman broke the Bruins' multi-game power play slump at 15:01, with Keith Tkachuk getting yet another assist. Jochan Hecht scored three minutes later to push the total to 3-2.

Bill Guerin added two goals in the first ten minutes of the third - one on a power play - as the Bruins extended the lead to 5-3. the fourteenth minute represented the finest hockey Boston has seen in some time as Shawn McEachern and Peter Sykora rocked the casbah to reach the final score.

Equally impressive as the offensive output was the defensive play, limiting the Kings to only twenty-one shots on goal.

The mood was joyous after the game. While the team knows there is work to do - particularly on the part of Keith Tkachuk, who has still yet to score - the second win was still a reason to celebrate.

The Bruins will spend Monday travelling to Nashville for their game against the Predators.
