Canucks Stun Panthers At Home
FLORIDA-The Vancouver Canucks came into town and were hungry to end their three game losing streak and stunned the Panthers 2-1 snapping their losing streak and the Panthers winning streak.
Byron Dafoe was on his game and especially in the first period. The Panthers outshot the Canucks 18-7 but could only put one puck past the sharp Dafoe. That was at 7:36 when Ivan Novoseltsev scored his league leading 10th goal of the season to give the Panthers a 1-0 lead.
Neither team played particularly well in the second but the Canucks tied the game at 11:12 on Marian Cisars 6th goal of the year.
The Canucks Richard Zednik scored the games winner at 17:27 of the third to give Vancouver a 2-1 win.
"The difference in this game was the fact that Dafoe played extremely well as we out shot the Canucks 31-22. The other was Vancouvers ability to shut down our offence and take advantage of Loungo not having a particularly good game."GM Perrault told reporters at the post game."You have to tip their hats to the Canucks. They came in here and played extremely well and did all the right things to keep our guys off the scoresheet. They deserved this win but we will be better prepared when we meet again."
The Panthers have the night off and will be heading to Ottawa to play the Senators tomorrow night.
