Bruins prepare for "Louis XVI" Day

The Boston Bruins announced today’s promotional give away would be 5,000 guillotine shaped cigar cutters, in honor of Louis XVI Day at the Fleet Center for their 4 p.m. match-up with the Los Angeles Kings.

"Much like Louis and his wife Marie Antoinette, the Bruins will chop off the Kings one game winning streak," GM Joshua Anderson said in making the announcement. "We finally found some offense last night against the Sabres [in a 6-5 defeat], and anticipate continuing that momentum today in the matinee."

The Bruins have lost five straight games since knocking off the Sabres 4-2 thirteen days ago. They sit 1-10 on the season, and have recently taken steps to jostle the roster in the hopes of stirring up some defense. Something is necessary, though, as they are averaging two goals given up for every goal scored.

The Kings enter the game on the heels of a 5-4 victory over the Penguins and are 4-7-1 overall. They suffered a loss to the top rated Hurricanes before visiting Pittsburgh. The Kings enter Boston one of the few teams out of the early playoff picture with a positive goal differential.

Today’s matinee will close a four-game homestand for the Bruins, who depart to play Nashville in three days.
