DIAL ZERO FOR THEODORE

Carolina

The Hurricanes swirled into the Big Apple and forced a big Goose Egg out of the Rangers. Jose Theodore tossed away 33 shots in the 1-0 shutout victory.

With the game seemingly going into overtime in a sweet zero zero tie, the Hurricanes assistant captain took a break out feed from newcomer Darcy Tucker and buried his fifth of the season with a mere twenty one seconds remaining in the game.

"What a wicked win," said captain Shane Doan. "This was a battle we had coming for a while now and wanted to show that we can shut down any one. The Rangers have a lot of offence up front and we knew we'd have to bring the old A game and we did."

The Canes left the game with a bit of concern, however, as the Hurricanes power play went for a sad zero for eight in the game.

"We worked on some things all yesterday," said the Canes coach Joel Quenneville. "I cannot say I saw anything we worked on. No shots from the point, little movement up front. It was sort of sad. I will let it go today though as the boys played better defensively than I have seen all season."

The Canes have tomorrow off.
