Leafs Juniors star newest victim of the Iron Fist
There have been a few bright spots for the Toronto JR's squad this season, but none more brighter than star prospect Cory Perry. Cory had been lighting things up in the Junior ranks racking up 11 points in 9 games and leading the team, even though he had played 3 less games than everyone else.
On a side note, there had been a few comments made about how this Leafs pro/junior squad was "stacked". Normally, such comments are common within a league like this and not taken too seriously. However, this coincided with the Return of GM Tom to the Bluejackets, who was on probation and had just re-taken control of his team. Ofcourse, all of these facts are nothing more than that..pieces of information.
What followed was the injurying of Cory Perry by the hands of the Bluejackets Tyler Sloan
Tyler Sloan beats up Cory Perry
Cory Perry injured at 00:46 of the 1st Period
Tyler Sloan ejected at 00:46 of the 1st Period
As you can see, it was a burtal attack on the Leafs JR star. The results of this attack almost ended the career of Cory Perry. Luckily, do the great training and medical staff, Cory's career was saved, and he is now gone from season ending status to a few weeks.
However, the most disturbing part of this all is that League offices have yet to suspend Sloan. Was the deliberate Injuring of Cory Perry part of GM Tom's way of proving himself worthy to the commish? Obviously, this is just specualation, but due to the high numbers of similar incidents this season, it makes one wonder.
The Leafs head office awaits swift and just action against Sloan and their coaching staff. This lack of action taken by league offices is very disturbing indeed. Do other teams need to protect their stars from this?
We wait.....and our thoughts are with Cory and his family during his difficult road of recovery. We just hope justice is served and something like this does not go unpunished, as it will send a poor message to the league.
Who knows whos next?
