WASHINGTON-The Florida Panthers bounced back from last nights loss with a 5-2 win against the Capitals.

Panthers Back up goaltender Milan Hnilicka stopped 30 of 32 shots and was named the games first star. Hnilicka looked shaky at the start but settled in and lead the Panthers to victory.

Anson Carter and Patrick Marleau scored for the Capitals at 4:17 and 5:55 respectfully giving the Caps a 2-0 early lead. The Capitals matched Florida shot for shot and played one hell of a game only to be frustrated by Hnilicka who played supurbly after the 2 early goals.Yanick Lehoux scored for the Panthers at 14:09 to cut the lead to 2-1 and the Capitals took that lead into the second period.

The second period was both exciting and disappointing for the Capital fans. The Capitals outshot the Panthers 13-12 but it was the Panthers who made a difference on the scoresheet. Mike Rathje scored at 8:40 to tie the game at 2. Patrik Stefan gave the Panthers the lead for good at 15:36.

The Capitals did not give up in the third and battled the Panthers till the end but couldnt solve Hnilicka. Florida added goals from Sean Hill (the games second star) and Ivan Novoseltsev for the 5-2 victory.
