Panthers Dismantle Canucks

VANCOUVER-The Florida Panthers were in Vancouver last night and showed they were more then ready for the Canucks.

The Panthers started the scoring just 1:05 into the first period when Ivan Novoseltsev notched his 9th of the season. Petr Bondra scored a couple minutes later at 3:11 to give the Panthers a 2-0 lead. Vancouvers Marian Cisar tried to spark his team when he started a fight with Cale Hulse at 4:25 that solved nothing but was very entertaining as they fought to a draw. The Canucks cut the lead to one at 10:10 when Dimitri Yushkevich scored.

The Panthers got their 2 goal advantage back just 6 seconds into the second with Mike Cirillo's third of the year. Owen Nolan assisted on Cirillos goal then got one himself at 4:27. Valeri Bure got into the act scoring his second of the year at 10:36 to give the Panthers a commanding 5-1 lead. Vancouvers Robert Lang scored his 4th of the season at 16:06 cutting the Panthers lead to 5-2 going into the third period.

The third was all Florida. Outshooting the Canucks 12-5 and 33-20 overall. Stephen Weiss and Michal Handzus added goals in the third to hand the Canucks a 7-2 loss.

The Panthers will head home to host the Edmonton Oilers.
