Blackburn Burning up the Crease

Dan Blackburn is he a bust or is he just warming up to become one of the elite goalies in CLUTCH. A few seasons ago the Columbus Blue Jackets traded for highly touted and highly over paid Blackburn. Knowing well that they were giving up a few seasons to train him and help the team become a contender. Now a few seasons later Blackburn hasn’t improved much. This leads many to think maybe he’s capped out on his potential already.

With so many critics coming down on this kid it’s amazing how he still gets up everyday and tries to perform his best. The defense in front of him is lack luster at best. Dan Blackburn has only allowed 29 goals in this season and made 278 saves. With a 3.31 avg, which isn’t bad for a team, that’s only won two games this season. This season looks to be far worse for the pro team than it does for the minor league team.

As a back up plan the Jackets drafted Corey Crawford. Corey has been sent to some skill camps and is working very hard to become at least the backup goalie for the Pro team in the Columbus organization. Corey has a great attitude and a great personality says his coach. The team still has faith in Dan Blackburn an feels once we shore up our defense put something in front of him your going to start to see what Blackburn’s all about. I think this season he’s really going to come on to his own and the Jackets will reek the benefits for many seasons to come.
