Junior Capitals Tie Detroit

The Washington Junior Capitals fell six points out of the playoffs after a 3-3 tie with the Detroit Junior Red Wings on Day 114. Washington is now 23-28-7.

The Red Wings jumped out to a 1-0 lead early in the first period on Schubert's goal from Grot and Kristek at 5:36. Washington battled back to tie the game just less than four minutes later when Zbynek Novak netted from Jakub Cutt and Branko Radivojevic at 9:25. Detroit kept up the pressure on home ice and regained the lead six minutes after Novak's goal. Svensson was the scorer for the Wings from Lehun and Bykov at 15:24. The gloves came off at 16:26 as Greg Mauldin was beat up by Stuart. Stuart was ejected from the game while Mauldin left with an injury. The Capitals got back in the game just 10 seconds after the fight when Jean-Claude Sawyer scored from MAxim Orlov and Mauldin. The gloves came off again just 39 seconds later as Radivojevic and Detroit's Blatak fought to a draw. The Red Wings then finished off an action-packed opening period on Maximenko's goal from Davis and Loginov at 18:14.

After a scoreless second period, Washington battled back in the final period to tie the game. Sean Bergenheim was the scorer from Lance Moynch and Patrick O'Sullivan at 3:32. Neither team was able to score the winning goal over the final 16:28 plus overtime.

Brad Topping made five saves for Washington before leaving the game with an injury. Daniel Taylor stopped 23 shots to earn the tie. Oliver Dannel made 27 saves for Detroit.

The Junior Capitals return to action on Day 115 against Pittsburgh.
