Panthers Host Flyers

The Philadelphia Flyers are in town for the first game of a home and home series with the Panthers. The Panthers are lookin to continue where they left of the other night with a win against the Nashville Predators.
Both teams came out strong in the first period but it was the Panthers who dominated on the scoreboard. Owen Nolan scored his 24th of the season just :15 seconds into the contest. Pierre Dagenais scored his first of two in the period at 2:43. Petr Bondra notched his 15th of the year at 7:36 and Dagenais finished the onslaught with his second and 11th of the year at 12:51 giving the Panthers a commanding 4-0 lead after 20 minutes of play.
It was all Flyers in the second period. Philadelphia out shot the Panthers 15-4 and dominated the period from start to finish. Mariusz Czerkawski cut the Panthers lead to 4-1 at 5:20 scoring his 15th of the year. The Panther Yanick Lehoux made it 5-1 at 10:29 in one of the only bright spots in the period for Florida. Viktor Kozlov scored his 19th and 20th goals of the season. The first while on the power play at 12:07 and the second just :23 seconds later to get the Flyers within 2 with the score 5-3.
That would be the final score as Jamie Storr shut the door the rest of the way and the Panthers survived to extend their current winning streak to two games. The Panthers will now travel to Philadelphia to play the Flyers again tomorrow night.
