Junior Capitals Whitewash Penguins

Andrew Joudrey scored a goal and added two assists to lead the Washington Junior Capitals to a 6-0 victory over the Pittsburgh Junior Penguins on Day 115. The result lifts Washington to 24-28-7 and four points out of the playoffs.

After a scoreless first period, Brett Carson opened the scoring from Zbynek Novak and Robert Muller at 3:26. Joudrey made it 2-0 when he netted from Mikhail Kuleshov and Jean-Claude Sawyer at 5:06. Just 25 seconds later it was 3-0 as Kuleshov netted from Joudrey and Maxim Orlov.

Washington kept it up in the final period, adding three more goals to complete the rout. Cory Urquhart got the first from Ryan MacMurchy and Carson at 8:58 to extend the lead to four goals. A fight just over three minutes later between Igor Shadulov and Armstrong ended in a draw, and Shadulov somehow managed to scored from Novak just 10 seconds later. Henrik Tallinder completed the scoring from Orlov and Joudrey at 14:00.

Muller stopped all 22 shots he faced to earn the win for Washington. Brian Finley made 16 saves in the loss for Pittsburgh. Nathan Marsters stopped four shots in relief.

The Junior Capitals are back in action on Day 116 against Columbus.
