Boucher, Amonte come to Oilers, Khabibulin & Donovan shipped to New Jersey

Goaltender Brian Boucher and Forward Tony Amonte were acquired by the Oilers today in return for Struggling Oilers goaltender Nikolai Khabibulin, Shean Donovan and a Conditional Draft pick in 2010. Boucher and Khabibulin alike did not post good numbers for their squads this year and hopefully a change of scenary will kick start their performance. Boucher was only eligible for one more regular season game so in order to make a decent playoff run this year the Devils needed to add a goalie with some eligible games remaining. Amonte is becoming a UFA but the Edmonton managment hope to strike a deal with him over the off-season. Donovan had a slow start for the Oilers but picked up as the season continued and will be happy if he can get some playoff ice with the New Jersey squad. When asked about the trade GM Schmuck of the Oilers said "This trade worked for both teams, The Devils needed someone solid for the playoffs and a Right Winger that is guaranteed to fill the void and provide scoring for them all season long, While we needed to move Nikolai who was unhappy all year in Edmonton and never lived up to his expectations, Amonte is welcomed and we will starts talks with his agent shortly to try and land a long term deal". Some Edmonton fans have reacted badly to the noise accusing GM Schmuck of "Throwing the Towel In" or 'Quitting' on the team, He replied to such comments stating "Bulin had performed worse then Conklin anyhow and Amonte adds more offense then Donovan." However its put, It appears the Oilers are looking forward to next season with their recent moves. If Ty Conklin can somehow get the Oilers to the Playoffs, The team will be in good shape to make a nice playoff run. This is definately Conklin's "Time to Shine".
