NY Shocker! Nash dealt for Bertuzzi!

The New York Rangers parted with the Rick Nash who they has professed over and over again to be their franchise player after he held out on them during negotiations. The Rangers acquired one of the biggest stars in the league in Todd Bertuzzi in return.

"There is no I in TEAM," said an obviously tired and despondent GM Burns. "We will not sacrifice our salary structure for one player. We negotiated in good faith with Nash but he got greedy. When he told us he was holding out and talking to other teams we felt we had to deal him before another team put in a ridiculous 7-10 million dollar contract which we would then have to match. This would have pushed us too close to the cap to improve in other areas. We wanted to build the team around him and we're very disappointed in his decision."

"Having said that we are absolutely thrilled to have Todd Bertuzzi on our team. We talked to almost every GM in the league at length and had some great offers but getting Todd's blend of ferocious power and sublime skill is a real exciting thing for us. He's a difference maker every time he steps on the ice."

"We had trouble scoring last year but that shouldn't be the case this year with Bertuzzi, Alfredsson, Sundin, Bure, Dumont, Ribeirio, Ponikarovsky, Redden, and Pilar in our line up. We're very excited about our team."
