Sens make HUGE deal for a Goalie!

The Ottawa Senators have FINALLY acquired a legitimate #1 Goalie. GM Schmucky announced on Thursday that the deal between the Flyers and Sens had been approved which sees veteran tender Chris Osgood come to Ottawa in exchange for a JR D man in Hendrikx and their 2nd round pick.

"It's great to have a goalie of Ozzy's calibre. No excuses in net this year. Ozzy has 2 CLUTCH cups with 2 different organizations so he not only adds talent in net but he also brings with him leadership and experience."

It is likely that Roman Turek will stick around and assume backup duties but that leaves Fred Brathwaite on the backburner. Fred makes 1.5 million this year and will most likely be bought out by the club in order to save cap space.

"It's not like we're predicting a cup this year now, but we should be a lot better! Goaltending was among one of our biggest issues last season."

Osgood, who was a protected UFA this offseason would only agree to a short term deal putting Schmucky in a sticky spot for the upcoming offseason when he decides to protect or trade either Osgood or Selanne.

"We'll figure that out when the time comes. If the team looks shaky, we could move more than just those two this season. If we are solid, that is when it will be a tough call!"
