Senators Release Brathwaite

The Ottawa Senators have released 3rd string goaltender Fred Brathwaite. The club bought out the final two years on his contract to relieve them of some cap space and make room for Osgood and Turek to carry the load.

"Well, Fred was unfortunately signed to too big of a contract to allow him to play on the Farm club. We love Fred and he did a decent job for us last season. However, as the club moves forward in our quest to get out of the CLUTCH basement, changes must be made."

With Brathwaite out of the picture, the Sens make room for some of the contracts of their 5 callups, the potential resigning of Fata and Alexeev later in the season, and any potential UFA signings in the future.

It is also well known that the Sens are in the hunt for a 3rd line Defenseman but have had no luck. The rumour is that Fahey will be let go this year as his demands for a 1-2 million dollar deal are not in the Sens plans as he is not a worthy player of that type of deal.
