Junior Capitals Crushed by Carolina

The Washington Junior Capitals continued its terrible run of form in a 4-2 loss to the Carolina Junior Hurricanes on Day 14. Washington was outshot 35-17 in the game.

Sean Bergenheim gave the Caps an early lead when he netted from Jean-Claude Sawyer and Gennady Stolyarov.

Carolina fought back in the second period and tied the game midway through the action. Mancari was the scorer from Fraser at 10:56. The Hurricanes completely dominated the middle stanza, outshooting Washington 10-3.

The 'Canes turned it up in the final period, and Tukonen gave the home club a 2-1 lead with a goal from Penner and Sixon at 1:53. The Junior Caps tied it up just 22 seconds later when Patrick O'Sullivan scored his first of the season from Jared Walker and Stolyarov at 2:15. Carolina then took advantage of a boarding double minor to O'Sullivan at 4:16 to put the game away. Colliton connected first from Barker and Mancari at 6:10, before Korpikoski netted from McGrattan and Penner at 6:53.

Brad Topping made 31 saves in the loss and fell to 1-4. Jeff Glass stopped 15 shots to earn the win.

Washington faces Buffalo on Day 19.
