Prucha Stars in Debut - Rangers Still Lose

Petr Prucha gave the New York Rangers something to smile about despite a disappointing loss to the Edmonton Oilers last night. The young winger collected two goals and the games third star while putting on an impressive display of skill.

The Rangers, however, still failed to find a way to win.

In what is shaping up to be a hugely disappointing season the Rangers once again found a way to lose in a game that was within their grasp to win. The Boys From Broadway were victimized by weak goaltending on this occasion as back up Karl Goehring was very shaky and gave up several soft goals.

No one in the league expected Goehring to help much in a back up role for the Rangers. Gone are the days when the Rangers had the luxury of being able to rotate two starters. With the poor record they now sport Goehring's ability to bring home some wins could be crucial to the teams playoffs hopes.

"Karl hasn't played yet this year," said coach Neilson. "He's a good goalie and we have all kinds of faith in him. He'll most likely start next game as Dunham has a slight groin pull that could use another game to heal."

Pavel Bure also continued his impressive play this season. His 7 goals have him on pace for another 40+ goal season but his 5 assists and his willingness to share the puck are a pleasant surprise.

"I'm playing with some great players," said the Russian Rocket. "If I move the puck they tend to bury it. I like to pass now."
