Panthers take bite out of Flyers

PHILADELPHIA (AP) – The Florida Panthers took control of the game from the first drop of the puck as they defeated the Philadelphia Flyers 8-0.

The romp was on just 59 seconds into this game as the Panthers scored early and never looked back. In most games there are good points to pick out and assess after each game but after this game there was not. Besides the 6 even players on the score sheet (P.Polcik, J.Lundmark, I.Grigorenko, C.Colaiacovo, P.Schaefer and E.Cairns) the Flyers had nothing positive to take from this game, it was brutal.

Goaltending was terrible, defense was atrocious and the offence was just plain nonexistent. This win will kick start the Panthers team and will drop the confidence of the Flyers to even lower as the team was just recently on a two game win streak. Flyers GM had this to say after the game “The Panthers are a solid team, but there is no excuse to lose this way at any point…”. “It was a poor effort by our boys and we will make the changes needed to our line pairings in order to correct these mistakes ...” said the GM.

The Flyers will now face the Vancouver Canucks tonight at GM Place in Vancouver. Expect to see a different set of lines, but it will be a toss up for who will start seeing as both goaltenders played horribly last game.
