Capitals Stop Senators

The Washington Capitals moved back to .500 for the season on Day 23 in a come-from-behind 3-2 victory over the Ottawa Senators. Washington is now 5-5-2.

Ottawa jumped out to a 2-0 lead with a pair of power play goals in the first period. Petrasek got the first from Morrison and Kaberle at 3:13, before Bouchard made it 2-0 from Novak and Selanne at 19:55.

The Caps started its rally late in the second period on Jonathan Cheechoo's goal from Bryan Berard and David Vyborny at 18:50.

Washington really turned it on the final stanza, outshooting the Sens 13-6 and scoring twice to take the win. Frantisek Lukes struck first with an unassisted goal on the power play at 13:05, and Todd Warriner netted the game-winner from Zigmund Palffy and Patrick Marleau at 15:11.

Kevin Weekes made 20 saves to earn the win and improve to 3-1. Chris Osgood stopped 29 shots in the loss.

The Capitals are back in action on Day 24 against Chicago.
