This time it was Poti scoring from Tarnstrom and Kovalev. Washington battled back to make it 2-2 on Patrick Marleau's marker from Todd Warriner at 17:48.

The Sens took the lead again after just 48 seconds of the second period. Selanne was the scorer from Kovalev and Bouchard. Once again the Capitals fought back to level the score. Frantisek Lukes got the goal from Eaton and Peter Tenkrat at 16:31.

Both teams had several chances in the final period, but it was Ottawa's Morrison that netted the game-winner from Nedved and Kaberle on the power play at 17:39. Bryan Berard was in the box for roughing at the time.

Kevin Weekes made 28 saves in the loss and fell to 3-3. Chris Osgood stopped 23 shots to earn the win.
