Blue Jackets reach restructure deal with goalie Dan Blackburn

President and General Manager Peter Dell'Olio has announced that Dan Blackburn has agreed to restructure his contract. With 59 games remaining on the season, Blackburn took over 4 million dollars in bonus money for the new contract and he will be paid over 3 million dollars on the books. The deal is believed to have been done so that the Jackets can pursue a player at the deadline, without causing a cap problem, as they will need to resign several players long term at seasons end. Primarily Mikko Koivu and Blackburn will command significant contracts and Columbus wanted to gain some flexibility.
