Sens Surprised with Leading Scorer: David Petrasek..WHO?
The Ottawa Senators are having a decent season thus far which has been sparked by the play of some surprising individuals.
Leading the charge is now leading scorer, David Petrasek. Petrasek has scored 5 goals and has 11 assists to lead Ottawa in points this season. Petrasek has been sharing time on the third line with youngster Chris Kelly and Centerman Dan Snyder. Petrasek is not known for his offensive abilities bolstering a weak 68 SC rating and a 69 DF rating. However, it seems his higher passing and puck control rates mixed with his very high IT and ST ratings have lead to him being a prominent power forward for this squad. Schmucky has recently moved him up to the 2nd line, effectively demoting 27 year old underachiever Michael Ryder.
Also high on the list of top surprises this year is newly acquired forward Dan Snyder. Snyder is leading the team with 7 goals and also has 6 assists to add to his totals. He has played with heart and tenacity while centering the 3rd line. Snyder has bumped youngster Bouchard to the 3rd line as he is streaking into the 2nd 3rd of the season. Bouchard, who is tied for the teams point lead, has been faltering of late and should move back to the 2nd line tonight in an attempt to fire him back up.
That means the two highest point scorers for the Sens will be side by side heading into tonight's double header. The Sens are in tough though against the Devils and Flames, both of which have better records than Ottawa and are having very successful seasons.
