Junior Capitals Earn Rare Victory

The Washington Junior Capitals earned a rare victory on Day 22 by shutting down the New Jersey Junior Devils 3-2. The win ended a seven-game winless skid for the Caps.

The Devils took the lead in the first period when Thompson scored his fourth of the season from Demarchi and Pardy at 9:42, but Washington fought back to tie the game. Brett Carson got the goal from Andrew Joudrey and Jakub Petruzalek at 18:29. In a round of fisticuffs, Patrick O'Sullivan got beat up by Demarchi at 13:38.

After a scoress second period, the Junior Caps came out flying in the third. Gennady Stolyarov made it 2-1 from Fabien Laniel and Jean-Claude Sawyer at 3:43, before Cory Urquhart made it 3-1 from Sean Bergenheim and Siarhei Kolasau at 5:31. Thompson scored his second of the game from Cole and Miller at 17:01, but the Caps held on for the win.

Robert Muller stopped 30 shots to earn the win and improve to 1-2. Jeff Drouin-Deslaurier made 21 saves in the loss.

The Junior Capitals visit St. Louis on Day 23.
