Rangers Look to Next 10 Games to Salvage Season

If the playoffs are in the Rangers' future than they need look no further than the next 10 games. The Rangers have had a hugely disappointing opening quarter season and are seriously looking like the kind of inconistent and lacklustre team that is shut out of the post season shinny tournament known as the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

"We're not out of it yet," bristled captain J.P. Dumont in an interview yesterday. "We've faced some adversity but we know we can make the playoffs and do serious damage. Hell our goal is to win the cup not just make the playoffs."

The Rangers currently sit with a 7-9-3 record and a .447 winning percentage which is a far cry from what was expected from them. The playoffs are still attainable as they sit within 4 points of the Panthers and Leafs.

So what does the next 10 games hold in store?

The Rangers face:
The Jackets
Maple Leafs
Sabres
Capitals
Penguins
Sabres
Flames
Capitals
Capitals
Senators

Other than the Sabres and Flames who are in the top tier of Clutch the Rangers play a series of games against teams that they should be able to do well against.

They also play the Capitals three times. The Rangers currenlty trail the caps by a point in the standings and 2-3 wins could go a long way towards improving their fortunes. Ideally the Rangers would come out of the next 10 games with 7 wins but 6 will probably be necessary to pull them into playoff contention. A mere .500 record may not do it. A sub .500 performance may trigger a roster overhaul.
