Capitals Take Bite Out of Sharks

Kevin Weekes stopped all 32 shots he faced to lead the Washington Capitals to a 2-0 victory over the San Jose Sharks on Day 36. The result lifts Washington to 8-9-2 for the season.

David Vyborny started it off for the Caps when he scored his seventh of the season from Jonathan Cheechoo and Bryan Berard at 7:34. Just 2:05 later Mark Eaton lit the lamp on the power play from Andrew Ference and Carl Corazzini.

The two goals were all the scoring in the game as Washington killed six penalties and did a good job keeping San Jose to the outside.

Weekes improved to 4-3 with the win. It was his second shutout of the season. Cristobal Huet made 25 saves in the loss.

The Capitals are back on the ice against Buffalo on Day 38.
