Junior Capitals Tie Columbus

The Washington Junior Capitals ended a six-game losing skid on Day 20 in a 3-3 tie with the Columbus Junior Blue Jackets. Three different player contributed two points each to lead the Caps.

Ryan MacMurchy gave Washington a good start when he scored his first of the year from Patrick O'Sullivan and Ivan Baranka at 11:05. Columbus answered with a power play tally by Dupuis at 16:59. Hanchuk earned the assist while Mikhail Kuleshov was in the box for cross-checking.

The Jackets took control of the game in the middle stanza. Naurov made it 2-1 from Kolarik and Sloan at 11:44, and Callahan netted on the power play from Hanchuk and Murray at 19:34. A couple of fights also entertained the fans in the second period. O'Sullivan was beat up by Suter at 7:24, and Greg Mauldin beat up Kolarik at 17:48.

The Junior Capitals tied the game with a burst midway through the final period. Matt Maglione made it 3-2 from Gennady Stolyarov and O'Sullivan at 11:32, before Stolyarov tied the game from Sean Bergenheim and Maglione at 11:59.

Brad Topping made 31 saves to earn the tie and improve to 1-5-1. Corey Crawford stopped 26 shots for Columbus.

The Junior Capitals return to home ice on Day 22 against New Jersey.
