Capitals Fall to Flyers
The Washington Capitals lost its second straight game on Day 41 in a 2-1 setback to the Philadelphia Flyers. The result drops Washington to 8-11-3 for the season.
Frantisek Lukes gave the Caps the lead early in the first period when he scored his seventh of the season from Todd Warriner and David Vyborny at 5:22.
After a scoreless second period, the Flyers scored a pair of goals in the final stanza to earn the win. Polcik tied the game from Grigorenko and Steen at 9:36, before Seidenberg converted from Wellwood with 2:35 left to earn the win. Seidenberg's goal came shorthanded.
Manny Legace made 26 saves in the loss and fell to 4-7-3. Martin Gerber stopped 37 saves to earn the win.
The Capitals are off on Day 42 before visiting the New York Rangers on Day 43.
