Senators Beat Flames and Avs, lose to Devils
Well, the Ottawa Senators are doing better than expected on this recent tough stretch for them. Having won 2 of 3 games, all of which they were expected to lose, GM Schmucky is optimistic but realistic at the same time, "Well, we've proven we can beat some of the elite teams in the league when we put our minds to it. However, with Nedved, Osgood, Poti and Tarnstrom out of the lineup our goal for tonight and tomorrow's games are just to maintain some dignity. We don't expect to win, but we will play to win that's for sure. Roman has proved he can win us some games when needed and some of our forwards should fill in for guys who are hurt. We'll see, but let's just say we don't expect much tonight."
The Sens travel to San Jose to take on the sharks tonight. They crushed the Sharks in their last meeting but are in tough with injuries and a backup goaltender playing tonight.
Meanwhile, young rookie Rostislav Olesz is quickly becoming a star of the Sens Jr. Squad. He is leading the league in points, goals and pretty much every category possible. At 19 years of age, it's possible Olesz could be in the Pros as early as next season. Gm Schmucky would like to avoid that if possible, "We'd love to see him take another year to develop and hone his skills. He's a great young kid and we look forward to having him on our squad, we just wanna make sure he's ready to contribute rather than sit on the farm for his first season. We've seen many players fizzle away on the farm and become permanent farm guys. We don't want that with this young talent."
