Bruins support Massachusetts Youth Hockey EFFORT

The charitable arm of the Boston Bruins was once again extended as the team announced its support for the Massachusetts Youth Hockey EFFORT.

The irony that the Bruins have not put forth much – if any – effort on the ice was not lost on the gathered media, who all chuckled at the announcement by GM Joshua Anderson.

"We’re here today to say hockey deserves EFFORT from and for all", Anderson announced. With each word, he stared poignantly at each member of the Bruins in attendance – lingering over Keith Tkachuk, Bill Guerin, Tim Connolly, and Lars Jonnson until each man glanced away, hung held low.

"The youth of Massachusetts are afforded an opportunity for young adults to grow physically, socially, and morally, families to come together, and strong communities to be built. In unfortunate circumstances, youth hockey yields youth dropping out of sport, unhealthy families, and communities driven by unreasonable expectations and violence." Anderson continued, "EFFORT strives to create athlete-centered youth hockey in Massachusetts. It establishes a common philosophy in rinks and training centers that yields optimal hockey and personal development."

The accompanying press release cited that EFFORT was an acronym for “Encouraging Fairness, Fun, Opportunity, Respect and Teamwork” – all things the aforementioned Bruins players also seem to lack.
