Like Jesus in the desert, Bruins beat Devils

Jordan Sigalet made 19 saves, and Brett Nowak had a goal and a pair of assists, as the Baby Bruins bounced back from their disappointing 6-4 loss of three nights ago to defeat the Imps 4-1 in Providence.

Neither team came out of the gate firing the puck, putting with thoe home team putting eight on net, while only facing five. New Jersey, though, made the most of their limited shots in the first when they dented the twine two minutes in.

Drew Miller and Matt Keith broke in on Sigalet with a two-on-one break. Miller dropped the puck from left circle at the hashmarks to a trailing Keith in the slot, who then took Sigalet stick side.

The Bruins lit the lamp with their fifth shot on goal, though. Nowak made a perfect feed to the top of the left circle, where Rick Kozack one-timed the puck over the glove of Juer Penko at 6:13. The Bruins then tacked one more with 0:25 left, as Andrej Meszaros' shot trickled through the pads of Penko. The home team led 2-1 heading into the locker room after one periods.

Providence cashed in on a power play 9:10 into the second frame. Tuuka Makela sent a shot from the point that Penko stopped but couldn't control, as it bobbled in behind him.

Similarly, 02:56 into the third, once again on the power play, Brett Nowak found the backside of the net off of an assist from Rick Kozak. Nowak got the puck at center ice and quickly skated past two defenders to break in on Penko alone, sending a backhander past him to give Providence a 4-1 lead that would not be relinquished.

Sigalet was solid in net, stopping 19 of 20 shots to pick up the victory. Juer Penko was saddled with the loss and stopped 25 of 29 shots for NJ.

The Bruins were 3 for 13 on the power play. The Li'l Devils were 0-4. The Bruins will travel to face the NY Rangers in the late game.
