Capitals Blanked by Flyers

The Washington Capitals saw its four game unbeaten run end on Day 120 in a 2-0 loss to the Philadelphia Flyers. The setback drops Washington to 23-27-9.

After a scoreless opening period, Philadelphia scored the only goals of the game over a 35 second span in the second period. Czerkawski got the first from Kozlov and 12:07, and Kalinin netted the second from Savage and Potvin at 12:42. Washington had five power play chances in the period and six in the game, but the extra man unit was not able to light the lamp.

Peter Skudra made 26 saves in the loss to fall to 3-5-3. Felix Potvin stopped all 33 shots he faced to earn the win for the Flyers and improve to 7-7-3.

The Capitals are back in action on Day 121 against Toronto.
