Junior Capitals Fall to Leafs
The Washington Junior Capitals were miserable for 40 minutes and lost 3-1 to the Toronto Junior Maple Leafs on Day 119. The setback leaves the team at 24-29-8, four points out of the playoffs.
Washington played an excellent first period, outshooting Toronto 16-5, and taking a 1-0 lead at 9:44. Maxim Orlov scored the goal from Jakub Cutta and Igor Shadulov. The Leafs tied is up a few minutes later on Zavoral's fifth goal of the season from Lindlof and Werner at 13:03.
After a scoreless second period that saw Toronto outshoot Washington 15-6, the Leafs scored a pair of goals in the final 20 minutes to secure the win. Perry got the first from Zavoral and Reitz on the power play at 12:33, before Werner netted from Prucha and Zavoral at 17:58. The Caps managed just five shots on goal in the third.
Brad Topping made 29 saves in the loss for Washington and fell to 12-20-4. Dimitri Patzold stopped 26 shots for Toronto and improved to 8-10-1.
