KIRK MCLEOD ALMOST READY TO RETURN
Carolina
After a terrible injury, one which could have easily ended a young man's career, Kirk McLeod is back on the ice and practicing full speed with the team.
"It has been a slow process," said McLeod, who suffered three fractures in his right arm, "But the arm is doing well and I have all my movement back. I feel ready to go, but the doctor still hasn't given me the go ahead. It's been tough, I want out there so badly right now."
McLeod, a center, was the team's top checking line center and the squad's best penalty killing forward. An aggressive hitter and a strong forward, McLeod has done everything asked of him and he continues to show signs of more promise.
"He is a great athelete and a great kid," said head coach Craig Harstburg. "He is the guy that typifies the Canes. Hard work and hustle. We need him back and welcome him on that day with open arms."
The current status of young McLeod is a day, possibly two before being cleared and so look for McLeod to find his way back into action.
"I knew this day was coming," said McLeod. "I just want to be ready to contribute."
