Capitals Acquire Saprykin
The Washington Capitals acquired the rights to left wing Oleg Saprykin in a recent trade with the Boston Bruins. The 24-year-old has been holding out all season and was looking for a change of scenery. Heading to Boston are two second round picks. A fourth round pick will also move to Boston if Saprykin signs a contract with the Capitals.
The Russian native checks in at 6-0 and 187 pounds and is an intense and strong forward with good skills at both ends of the ice. A good passer with solid speed. Saprykin is especially adept at playing a defensive game, but he's also able to provide some offense.
In Season 4, Oleg scored nine goals and assisted on 19 others in 71 games. He also dished out 128 hits and had 48 PIMs.
With only 10 games left in the season, Washington isn't likely to sign Saprykin until the off season.
