CANES CELEBRATE TEAM LEADING SCORER

Carolina

With the season now complete and the playoffs looming, the Carolina Hurricanes took the time to honor left winger Jeff Friesen for his team leading 79 points.

A restricted free agent to be, the 29 year old winger had an outstanding season playing on the wing of sophomore center Kyle Wellwood along with right winger, and gritty veteran Darcy Tucker. The trio were an instant hit in Carolina, producing numbers even the top line could not compete with.

"It was an overall great year for us," said Friesen. "Going into the season I figured that we would probably put up some numbers, but I did not see me leading the team in scoring. I had a lot of help and I love my team mates a lot. I think this year turned out well, but next year we will be that much better."

With a team leading 35 goals, Friesen also won the top goal scorer award in Carolina and looks to hit the 40 goal mark next season.
