Palffy Finishes Among League's Best at Left Wing

Zigmund Palffy's first season in a Capitals uniform was a good one as the dynamic winger finished fifth in scoring among all left wings with 80 points.

Palffy was a free agent signing for Washington before Season 5, and he stepped right into the offensive leadership role the club expected. Zigmund finished with 29 goals and 51 assists to lead the team with 80 points. His 51 assists were also a team-high. The 80 point total was 19 more than last season.

Ziggy was second to teammate Patrick Marleau in the race for Player of the Week in Week #20 when he scored three goals and dished out nine assists in five games. He also made the list on Week #17 (13th) with one goals and four assists in five games, and Week #1 (9th) with two goals and four assists in four games.

In the Player of the Month category, Palffy was 11th in Month #5 with seven goals and 15 assists in 17 games. He was also 14th in Month #4 with 10 goals and eight assists in 16 games.
