Senators Win 3rd Straight
The Ottawa Senators won their third straight game last night as they defeated the Washington Capitals 5-3 on the road.
This is a big win for Ottawa as they need to put a few streaks together in order to make the playoffs. They are currently tied for 4th in the conference but have a few games in hand over the rest of the teams. Thus, they need to gain a few point lead in order to remain in position.
Teemu Selanne continues on his tear as he scored two goals last night. That gives the superstar 7 goals in his last 3 games and 40 total points on the season. Teemu, who started off the season in disappointing fashion, is finally clicking with linemates Alexei Kovalev and Brendan Morrison. The are now officially a force to be reckoned with.
Also, GM Schmucky's move to put Petrasek on the point is hopefully paying off. Although it is not paying off for David's individual stats as he is yet to register a point from the point and is a -2, he has been a force on the backend for Ottawa as they have only allowed 6 goals against in their past 4 games. This is a drastic improvement.
Tonight the Sens head to Anaheim to face the Ducks. Turek will get a much needed start as Osgood rests up prior to the 2nd half of the season starting. Justin Kelly, who scored in his debut for Ottawa, is expected to miss this game as well with a minor injury.
