Cap structure and web site announced.

Leafs find alternate ways to get under cap, reveal new team website.

With the Leafs brass doing most of their offseason work at the draft, there wasn't much work left for them to do, unlike some other teams who are scrambling to get their roster violations fixed. Infact, the Leafs only had one call up and contract signing from the farm to get things in order.

There was a report that they might buy out a few contracts in order to get themselves under the cap. Instead, they restructured Ryan Smyth's contarct which saved them a few million over 3 years and enabled them to make the LW call up which now has them ready to go for the preseason.

The scouts still need to decide who is going to camp and when.

The web tech division has added a Leaf home page recently, and are just waiting for it to be added to the main league web site. For now, anyone interested can visit it from this link....
http://ca.geocities.com/thephl@rogers.com/clutch/Leafs.html

Please keep in mind the site is still a work in progress, but will have a few features for other gms to use.

Here are a few of the highlights that will be/are up now.

---Resource centre : All the pertinent hockey sites to find out where your players are playing and how they are doing, including prospects, farmers, future stars etc.

---Rumor mill : A descriptive wire where rumors from the Leafs organization and a other teams will scroll across the site and updated frequently.

---Tradeables: Leaf players who may or may not be on the move and why.

---Recent news: Like the title says, recent news about the league and the Leafs.

We hope to provide information not just about our own team, but for other gms to use as well. Who knows what the site will evolve into.

Thats it for now...bring on the preseason!!
