Ottawa Lands 1st line Center!
The Ottawa Senators made a deal with the Carolina Hurricanes and acquired Center Brendan Morrison. The Sens have been concerned with their #1 Center spot and their potential on the powerplay. Brendan is a great skater and an excellent playmaker. He should fill these roles nicely. Morrison should slot into the number one Center spot nicely as well as leading the powerplay from center-ice.
In exchange for Morrison, Ottawa had to give up some great youth potential. They traded Junior stars Egener and Boyle to a solid contender to win the junior title this year. They also traded a 1st round pick. On the topic of some fans being skeptical about the moving of youth for one veteran player GM Schmucky stated, "Our junior franchise will remain competitive in the absence of these future stars. Our main concern at this time is to make our Pro team competitive in order to make the Senators a playoff team for the fans."
The Sens still have a few moves up their sleeves with rumours of Teemu Selanne being dealt in the upcoming weeks.
