A journey of 14,730 miles
In a seven day span, they will play five games on two ocean coasts and a river bank. They will traverse 14,730 miles (give or take) and earn an ample number of airline miles and hotel points. Twice, they will play a game, fly cross country, and play the next night after crawling into their own beds at 7 am local time.
The Boston Road Warriors, everyone!
"This is a scheduling night mare," GM Joshua Anderson said when reviewing the travel plans for the upcoming week. "We're right in the heart of the season, we're starting to gather momentum, and now we have the Journey of the Damned. The only possible upside of this is facing a weakened opponent in Los Angeles, but they may be looking for revenge against us after they were our second victory of the season."
The team had a decent stretch of homestands which ended with the victory over the Kings. The team the began their road travails with a 2,350 miles round trip to Nashville, where they fell in defeat 5-3 to the Predators. They hightailed it home to face the Montreal Canadiens in Boston the following night, a 2-1 victory.
A day of rest preceded the upcoming game against the San Jose Sharks, a 6,300 mile round trip airfare, which will be followed the next night with a game in Boston against Minnesota Wild.
The sixth day they will spend travelling back to California, where the next day they will face the revenge-minded Los Angeles Kings.
Jochan Hecht, a key catalyst in the recent upswing, commented he was "looking forward to the sleep on the plane, I guess. Just keep Tkachuk's stank ass away from me. I don't want his no-goal scoring ass anywhere near me."
