Junior Caps Back to Losing

The Washington Junior Capitals only stayed in the winner's circle for one game, returning back to loserville in a 2-1 setback to the Pittsburgh Junior Penguins on Day 47. The loss drops Washington to 8-13-1 for the season.

The Caps actually opened the scoring in an exciting first period when Greg Mauldin tallied from Maxim Orlov and Sean Bergenheim at 1:25. Pittsburgh answered without wasting too much time, Paille scoring the goal from Lupaschuk and Brown at 7:18 to tie the game. The Penguins then scored again just under six minutes later to take a lead they would not relinquish. Lupaschuk got the goal from Eade and Holtet at 13:13.

Neither team would scored in the second or third periods, and the Junior Caps would be left kicking themselves for not scoring on at least one of their 20 shots over the final 40 minutes. There was a fight in the third period as Pittsburgh's Crampton beat up Patrick O'Sullivan at 4:49.

Daniel Taylor made 19 saves in the loss for Washington and saw his record fall to 2-4-0. Brian Finley stopped 28 shots in an outstanding effort to earn the victory.

The Junior Capitals return to action on Day 49 against Tampa Bay.
